Documentation
How it works, written down
Everything below is the design as it is implemented, not as it is hoped for. Where something is unfinished or known to be weak, the document says so. The source is on GitHub.
The chain
- Specification Every consensus parameter and why it has the value it has.
- The Sharepool A pool built into consensus: every share is paid by the chain, with no operator and no fee.
- The MachinaHash algorithm Both lanes in full: the cores, the DAG, and the calibration that fixed the parameters.
- Finality A quorum of the last day's miners over proof of work, and what a node does when the quorum goes quiet.
- The quorum bond Not implemented: a bond designed for an appointed quorum, which the miners' quorum does not fit.
- Synchronisation Headers as a manifest, bodies pulled from several sources at once.
- Fees, dust and the UTXO set Why a cheap transaction can still be refused, and what storage mass is.
- The tail emission What a miner earns once the halvings run out.
- Proof of archive A considered design for paying nodes to keep the history. Not implemented.
Running it
- Security The threat model, the network layout, what is defended and what is admitted.
- Mining Both lanes at once, solo or to a pool, and how a card that lies is caught.
- The stratum protocol The wire protocol between a miner and a pool.
- The wallet A separate process, as in Monero: the file format, the seed, the RPC.
- A decentralised pool A sharechain above consensus — the design that was replaced by the Sharepool.
- Releases and signing What a release is, what it is not, and how to verify one.
